Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit).
In a large oven-safe skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
Add 1 chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
Place 4 pieces of Italian sausage in the skillet and brown on all sides, which should take about 7-10 minutes.
Chop 4 tomatoes and add them to the skillet along with 1 tablespoon of fresh basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of black pepper. Stir everything together.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the sausage is cooked through and the tomatoes have softened.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle 50 grams of grated parmesan cheese on top, returning to the oven for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
